My name is Alice Isakson and I am an Amsterdam based, Stockholm raised Art Director. Growing up with both my legs in performing arts I danced, sang and played theatre. My biggest inspiration was Shakespeare and I dreamed of the big stages and the even bigger words. But after 16 years of pursuing that path (living my life in other people’s shoes) I decided I wanted to do something else. To say I was lost is kind of an understatement. I knew no roads except the one I had always walked.
One Christmas I was making my usual planning for how to wrap the Christmas gifts. That year I had found these old collectors photographs that kids would collect in the 50s. Each photograph showed a celebrity of its time. This gave me the idea to base my wrapping concept on "stars". Sparkling gold paper, red velvet string and these small collectors photos. I also made sure that each photograph matched the receiver of the gift. My mom laughed and said something along the lines of “You know what you're doing is called packaging design? Maybe you should become a designer.”. That turned on a lightbulb over my head and suddenly I had a light to follow again.
Several years later I have studied, interned and worked with graphic design, advertising, writing, fashion you name it. I feel like I have found my new road to follow.
